The young patients in St. Jude's Children's
Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, were the beneficiaries of a
non-competitive fly fishing tournament June 28-30, 2003, on Arkansas'
famous White River. The tournament, which raised over $30,000, is the first of
what is planned to be an annual event.
The event was organized by April Conrad of Corinth,
Mississippi, and teams of celebrity fly-fishers, guides and amateur
anglers helped out. Amateurs paid $1,900 to take part with all the
proceeds going to St. Jude's. Also participating were the
Federation of
Fly Fishers, Trout Unlimited,
Arkansas Parks and Tourism, and the
Cotter
Area Chamber of Commerce.
